Why is Trustly charging me fees?

Trustly is a free service. We do not charge monthly fees or transaction fees.

However, there is one exception: If you make a payment but do not have enough money in your bank account to cover it, Trustly charges a return fee. This fee is often referred to as an non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee.

Why does this happen? When you authorize a transaction to your merchant, the money appears in your wallet or merchant account instantly. However, it takes 1–3 days for the money to actually leave your bank account.

To avoid fees, please keep the money in your bank account until you see the charge appear on your bank statement.
