Stockholm, 10 September 2025 - Trustly, the global leader in Pay by Bank, today announced that it has become a direct participant in Swish, Sweden’s leading payment method with 8.7 million users. The move follows the EU’s Instant Payment Regulation, which has enabled Getswish to open access beyond traditional banks to include additional regulated financial institutions.
By having a direct connection with Swish, Trustly can offer merchants a tailored and more optimised Swish payment experience. The direct connection makes onboarding quicker, improves settlement time, and simplifies payment reconciliation.
”We welcome Trustly as a direct participant in Swish. This marks an important step in broadening access to include payment institutions alongside banks, further strengthening the Swish experience for both merchants and consumers,” says Urban Höglund, CEO of Swish.
“This partnership with Swish is an important step for Trustly. It allows us to improve our product offering and make life easier for our merchants and partners, ensuring that they benefit from faster access to funds, stronger security and a streamlined process overall. We want to enable the best possible account-to-account offering, and this development with Swish is a strong example of that,” says Johan Tjärnberg, Group CEO at Trustly.
Trustly is a pioneer in open banking and a global leader in Pay by Bank solutions, operating in 33 countries with partnerships that include over 12,000 banks. Its services allow consumers to make transactions directly from their bank accounts, offering a safer and more cost-effective alternative to traditional card payments.
Since its founding in 2008, Trustly has reshaped the global landscape of direct payments, working with major institutions – most recently Kivra, Lenovo and Virgin Media O2.
